Jayson Tatum, representing the Boston Celtics, has signed a five-year, $314 million dollar extension with the club, according to sources.

Basketball NBA club Boston Celtics and playing as a small wing forward Jayson Tatum, 26, have penned the biggest contract in series history. The contract is worth 314 million dollars (about 293 million euros) and is five years long. The matter has been reported, among other things Reuters.

The new contract will enter into force in the 2025–26 season and expire at the end of the 2029–30 season.

With the new contract, the superstar will earn about 62.8 million dollars (about 59 million euros) per season.

For comparison, Finland’s only NBA player and Tatum’s peer Lauri Markkanen Earns an average of 18 million dollars (about 17 million euros) next season.

The previous biggest contract in history was Tatum’s teammate Jaylen Brown’s a five-year contract worth $304 million.

Tatum and Brown helped the Celtics win the 18th championship in club history last season.

The 26-year-old Tatum scored 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 steals per game in the regular season last season. In the playoffs, Tatum averaged 25 points per game.

The American player has been selected five times for the NBA All-Star Game, where the best players of that season are always selected.

Tatum is Boston’s third overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Markkanen was selected seventh in the same draft.

In the summer, Tatum will be seen together with other star players on the US national basketball team to Paris for the Olympics.
