Former police officer Derek Chauvin, convicted of the murder of George Floyd, is being treated for serious injuries after being stabbed in prison, a source told AP.

The crime is said to have taken place at the institution in Arizona, where Chauvin is serving his sentence. The United States Department of Corrections confirms that an inmate at the facility was attacked, but does not comment on the identity.

Chauvin has been sentenced to over 40 years in prison for killing Floyd during an intervention.
