New Jersey’s ex-governor Chris Christie will announce that he is dropping out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, an anonymous insider told the AP news agency.
The announcement will be made on Wednesday evening US time, says the source.
Chris Christie has been under intense pressure to drop out of the candidacy race, after critics of the overwhelming favorite Donald Trump pointed out the importance of uniting in common force against the former president.
As late as Tuesday night, Christie insisted he had no plans to give up.
