On Friday, the Sotkamon Jymy crew, sailing on a streak of eight victories, became the first team to win the Vimpel Veto twice in the Superpesis season.
Veto, who was the underdog, pushed back with an amazing equalizer in the last inning of the second period to win the period, but Jymy kept the victory of the game with the score 2–1 (5–0, 6–7, 3–1).
– You can’t be satisfied when too many runs come out of the glove all the time. All our away games have been difficult. Only three of them have been won, but only one has been lost at home, listed Veto’s game director Kari Kleemola.
Jymy kept the visitors in three three-point situations in the opening period. Jokers Roope Korhonen and Veeti Koko singled out two runs to a man. The hero of the second period was Vedon, who scored 1+2 runs from the triple trap in the situation 6-3 Elmeri Anttila. At the same time, he became the first seven-hitter of the season.
Anttila brought in the winning run of the period with a hit by Jukka-Pekka Vainionpää, from which the run was served by Jymy’s shortstop Ville Kotro and a locker who scooped up an empty throw Aapo Komulainen.
The solution in the relegation race was guaranteed by Kokko, who was born in 2003, who hit the running man, Komulainen and who signed a two-year extension to Jymy Alexander Huotari.
