For young and old alike.
Autumn is coming in a few days but already the first sore throats are showing their noses. So you are not alone in having a sore throat. In adults as well as children, throats are starting to hurt again. There are of course the traditional lozenges available in pharmacies to soothe them and the good old advice that always works of putting on a scarf to keep the throat warm, but there is also a remedy, THE remedy, essential to soothe a sore throat. It is very easy to prepare and only requires two ingredients.
The advantage of this remedy is that it soothes the throat and is good to drink (which is not always the case with natural solutions). It can also be offered safely to children. This remedy validated by naturopath Amélie Mounier is none other than the traditional hot lemon with honey. Lemon is rich in vitamin C, it gives a good boost in case of fatigue, tones the body and promotes the recovery of strength. It is also known for its antiviral and antibacterial benefits. It is recommended against all winter viruses, colds, flu, tonsillitis, etc. As for honey, in addition to its naturally softening consistency, it also has antibacterial effects.
To make your sore throat drink, preferably choose yellow lemons from organic farming. For honey, choose honey harvested and potted by the beekeeper (it is written on the label) and labeled (red label, AOP, IGP). Finally, remember that quality honey has no added sugars so the label should not mention it. In case of sore throat, thyme honey is particularly recommended but you can also choose eucalyptus or fir honey, more widely recommended in case of respiratory conditions. They are all antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.
To make the drink, simply heat water and pour it into a cup. Add the juice of a lemon with a teaspoon of honey and mix. Drink two to three cups a day. Lemon and honey can also be used as a gargle to relieve sore throats (especially in adults). Squeeze the juice of half a lemon, add a teaspoon of honey to warm water and gargle with the preparation. Once the gargle is done, you can swallow it. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor. The same applies in case of fever, especially in children.
