Sophie Wouters, in the shadow of a young flower girl

Painter and now a novelist, Sophie Wouters was awarded the “Prix Brussels author ” of the ” Manneken Price 2022 » and the 2021 Chapel Literary Prize for his short novel « Celestine “. A public and critical success which arrives in France at Hervé Chopin editions.

Sophie Wouters publishes her novel "Célestine" in France with Hervé Chopin editions.

It’s a first novel that looks like a punch. A short and dense text barely 120 pages, which depicts the whiteness of innocence and the darkness of the soul of colorful characters, the shadow of crime which hovers over a field of poppies; the light of the feeling of love in the grayness of everyday life.

It is a book that one reads as one plunges into a succession of paintings from which escape the smell of scandal and the scents of the countryside, mixed with the outdated perfume of France in the 60s and 70s. Not very surprising when we know that the author is first and foremost a painter.

It is successfully that Sophie Wouters went from brush to pen. After Belgium, Celestine is published in France by Hervé Chopin editions.
