West Ham’s Jamaican striker Michael Antonio got into a serious car accident on Saturday. The car driven by the Premier League star was badly wrecked.

According to the club, however, Antonio is conscious and “in a stable condition”. He is under observation in a London hospital.

– During this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The club will not comment further tonight, but will publish more information in due course, the club said.

West Ham previously confirmed that Antonio, 34, had an accident. Pictures from the accident site have been published in British media and social media, which raised concerns about Antonio’s condition. Antonio’s Ferrari was seen badly wrecked in them.

The BBC reportsthat the accident happened in Essex County. The rescue service announced that they were alerted to the accident site on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The injured Antonio was removed from his car at 1:45 p.m.

No other cars were involved in the accident.

Antonio has been playing for West Ham since 2015 and is the top Premier League goalscorer in the club’s history: 68 goals in 268 league games. In the national team, the Jamaican has scored five hits.

As a professional, Antonio has also played for Reading, Cheltenham, Southampton and Colchester.
