The American start-up Hippocratic AI, specializing in the field of health, has just announced a partnership with the giant Nvidia to develop a virtual health agent project powered by generative artificial intelligence. Their ambition is to offer an experience that is both reliable, but also empathetic, through virtual health agents capable of taking over from real doctors.
The idea is to set up a virtual assistant to understand and react to patients’ emotions. It aims to improve medical care as if the patient were in front of a real doctor. Here it takes the form of an animated character, on a tablet, who communicates remotely with the patient.
Initially, it is not yet a question of establishing a diagnosis. Rather than replacing a doctor, he would rather intervene in support, to communicate with a patient just after an operation for example, to check that everything is going well, or even to give him examination results and analyze them with him. . By discussing with the patient, this agent can also adapt a treatment, or even change it in the event of an allergy, for example.
In this partnership, Nvidia’s role will be to provide its expertise and resources, in particular its platform dedicated to the medical field Clara, to optimize the performance of the virtual health agent developed by Hippocratic AI. Moreover, the start-up is still working to improve the precision and relevance of its dedicated large language model (LMM).
By 2030, theWorld Health Organization (WHO) predicts serious labor shortages of around 18 million health and personal care workers worldwide. Generative AI could meet part of these needs, provided of course that it is perfectly reliable and sufficiently secure to be able to protect the privacy and data of patients.
