Driving towards yellow is – beyond the knowledge of many – unauthorized. But soon it will not be as expensive to get stuck for the unauthorized passage.
Generally speaking, a road user must stop at yellow light – just like at red light – but except when it is not possible to do so in a road -safe manner.
As it seems now, the cure for passing in yellow light is the same as at red, SEK 3,000. But from February 21, the fine is reduced to drive towards yellow to SEK 2,000, which the technology world was the first to report on.
The purpose of the reduction, which the Prosecutor General decided on, is to make a differentiation between driving towards yellow and red respectively.
“When multi -color signal shows red, there is no doubt that it is dangerous to travel past the stop line or equivalent. When the signal shows yellow, the traffic danger is not as evident as there is a margin in relation to when other traffic comes out at the intersection, “said Chamber Prosecutor Johan Bülow, who led the work, in a press release.
It is simply not considered as serious to defy yellow light as red.
In addition to the reduction to drive towards yellow, there will also be changes in the fine for, among other things, the hedge of load, and for A-tractor drivers without LGF sign properly mounted, the fine is increased from SEK 500 to SEK 1,500.
