After the arrival of the new PlayStation Plus and its new formulas, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to develop its services, just to maintain strong contact with its community. In the middle of a national holiday, the Japanese manufacturer announces PlayStation Stars, a loyalty program which aims to strengthen its links with its players. It is indeed a question of offering rewards according to the results obtained in the games, and which recalls what is already done with the competition, Xbox not to mention them. There are several ways to earn rewards, such as launching a game, winning trophies, winning tournaments, or being the first player (in a time zone) to earn a platinum trophy. To be eligible, you must register for PlayStation Stars, which will also give access to loyalty points. Players will then be able to redeem these points for items in a catalog that may include funds for the PSN wallet and certain PlayStation Store products. However, there will be an advantage for PlayStation Plus subscribers as they will automatically earn points for their purchases on the Playstation Store.

With the arrival of such a new program and the emergence of NFTs, will Sony give in to the temptation of the NFT market? Rest assured, blockchain technology is not welcome. That’s indeed what Grace Chen, Vice President of PlayStation Network, said during from an interview with the Washington Post to affirm Sony’s position on the thorny issue of NFTs.

These are clearly not NFTs. Truly not. You cannot trade or sell them. We do not rely on any blockchain technology and certainly not NFTs.

For the moment, no deployment date has been specified, but like PlayStation Plus, the program will be launched according to a precise schedule and according to the countries concerned. We will of course keep you informed of what will happen.
