In a new post on X/Twitter, Sony announced that people will be able to log into their PlayStation accounts using passkeys later today. On a support page, the company also reveals that support for passkeys will be available on the PlayStation website, PlayStation apps, and PlayStation devices.
New feature has arrived for PlayStation accounts
Once people create a passkey for their account on PlayStation, they will be able to log into it from their Android phone by verifying their identity using biometric authentication such as a fingerprint scanner and device pin/pattern/password. If you have an iPhone, you’ll be able to sign in using Face ID, Touch ID, and device passcode.
Passkeys are considered more secure and convenient compared to passwords. Currently, toggles are available on Android 9 and newer, iOS 16 and newer, iPadOS 16 and newer, and MacOS Ventura and newer. Recently, many companies have added support for toggle switches, including Google, Microsoft, Best Buy, PayPal, and eBay.
