Sony is reportedly developing a new portable console. This is the rumor of the day and it comes to us from Bloomberg, who explains that the idea is not to make a successor to the PSP or the PS Vita, but to think of this machine differently. According to Bloomberg, this machine would be capable of natively reading the PS5 catalog, and not only in cloud gaming, which means that the Japanese manufacturer would like to link this nomage console to its home console, in order to pool resources and not make it a separate product. When we know that Sony suffered twice with the PSP and the PS Vita, which are two machines that did not meet with the expected success, we imagine that the idea is not to reproduce the same mistakes. Likewise, with the success of the Nintendo Switch and its hybrid concept, there are indeed things to explore.
Sony has also explored this avenue since the latest update of the PlayStation Portal allows the accessory to now be autonomous, and no longer be tied hand and foot to a PS5 which would be turned on remotely. Other examples that could convince Sony to enter this market are the success of portable PCs such as ROG Ally and which allow you to enjoy the same games and the same catalogs already available, in particular via Steam. And when we know that Microsoft also wants its Xbox Portable, it seems that everyone wants to get their share of this very succulent pie.
