In a rare move in the gaming world, Sony Concord is preparing to pull its game from sale and refund all players. This decision comes on the heels of the game’s disastrous launch, with the announcement that it will soon be taken offline entirely.
Why Is Concord Being Withdrawn From Sale?
Sony and developer Firewalk Studios, Concordhas decided to stop selling on PlayStation Store, Steam and Epic Games Store. This move is the first of its kind in 2020. Cyberpunk 2077 event, and to compensate for the disappointment experienced by players, full refunds will be given for all purchases. Sony plans to take the game completely offline starting September 6, 2024.
“While many aspects of the experience resonated with players, we recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch did not perform as we intended,” Sony said in a statement. As such, the decision has been made to take the game offline and explore future options. Concord suffered a disastrous launch, selling just 25,000 copies across PS5 and Steam, and quickly fell off the charts.
This means that Concord only made around $1 million at launch, which is a pretty poor figure for a big-budget game. With the game’s future uncertain, it’s possible that Concord will either become a free-to-play experience or be written off as a complete failure.
