Sony has apparently secretly stopped working on an MMORPG that they never announced

There have been rumors for some time that NCSoft, the South Korean company behind MMOs like Throne and Liberty or Lineage, is working on an MMORPG for the well-known Sony brand Horizon. But that now seems to have been resolved, as a report shows.

Which MMORPG is it? There have been rumors since 2022 that an MMORPG for the Horizon games from Guerrilla Games is being worked on. Project H has reportedly been called the upcoming game internally. But those were just rumors for years. There was never an official announcement from Sony.

Apparently they will no longer exist, as a current report from the South Korean website MTN shows. At NCSoft, which announced a partnership in 2023, several projects now appear to have been terminated prematurely.

The last game in the Horizon series was Forbidden West:

NCSoft cancels several projects

What does the report say? According to the Korean site MTN, several projects at NCSoft have now been canceled. These probably include the projects Pantera and Hund J. What exactly these games were is not mentioned in the Korean report.

The development team for Project H is said to have consisted of former employees of the now closed company Entryv. How big the respective teams were is unknown.

According to the report, the decision to close the 3 projects was made at the end of the year. The employees of the various development teams should probably be assigned to new teams internally. According to the information in the report, the team behind H will be transferred to Lineage headquarters.

A few days ago it became known that Sony had canceled two other online titles. We don’t know any more about that either. One of the titles is said to have been a multiplayer game from the God of War series.

In addition to the big single-player blockbusters, Sony has also been working on various live service games in recent years. While titles like Helldivers 2 enjoyed enormous success, there were also extreme flops.
