Sony finally lifts the veil on the features of PlayStation

Sony took advantage of CES in Las Vegas to unveil some details regarding the characteristics of its next virtual reality headset. The PlayStation VR2, which will be compatible with the PlayStation 5, will be accompanied by new controllers, the Sense controllers.
With the PS VR2, Sony promises to offer players an unprecedented gaming experience, always more immersive and with new sensory experiences.

Sony’s new VR headset will feature 4K HDR, provide 110-degree field of view, and build on technology foveated rendering, able to follow the movements of the eye to adapt the rendering of the image according to where the player is looking, in order to limit the amount of calculation to be performed.
The headset will carry an OLED screen offering a definition of 2000 x 2040 pixels to each eye with adjustable lenses, and a refresh rate of 90 to 120 Hz.

A new sensory experience

The helmet will also be equipped with four cameras to follow the movements of the player and the controllers without the need to install an external camera.
The PS VR 2 is also expected to provide a more intense sensory experience for gamers. In addition to 3D audio, Eye Tracking and new controllers, the headset will include a small motor capable of making the player feel vibrations. They will be able to feel their character’s pulse, objects that pass near their heads, or even feel the thrust of a moving vehicle as their character moves forward.

For its PlayStation VR 2, Sony has also simplified its configuration. The headset only requires one USB Type C cable connected to the PS5 to operate. The Japanese firm took advantage of this announcement to unveil the first titles to come on the PlayStation VR 2.

It will beHorizon: Call of the Mountain, an exclusive PlayStation title. Sony, which has not yet unveiled the new design of its VR headset, has not specified either its price or its release date.
