Sony buys Haven, the studio of Jade Raymond, all the details of the acquisition

Sony buys Haven the studio of Jade Raymond all the

Just two months after announcing the takeover of the Bungie studio (Destiny, the first Halo), Sony Interactive Entertainment today validates the takeover of the Haven studio, just one year after its creation. Founded by Jade Raymond, who was known to be one of the producers of the first Assassin’s Creed, the Canadian company had already had the financial support of Sony Interactive Entertainment through a substantial investment. But at the time, the studio was still completely independent. We have to believe that Jade Raymond was able to find the right words to finally find refuge with the PlayStation Family, especially since she and her teams are working on an online service game expected on PS5. Hermen Hulst, the current big boss of PlayStation studios, quickly welcomed this acquisition, explaining that he was delighted to have people of the caliber of Jade Raymond and his teams of veterans on their side:

We started working with Jade and her team in early 2021, when the announcement of the creation of Haven Studios was imminent. From the start, we were inspired by Haven’s vision to bring players together in a positive and meaningful multiplayer experience. We had every confidence in their creative and technical expertise to carry out such an ambitious project. We were delighted to invest in this adventure whose goal is to create a new original franchise for PlayStation.

We’ve been fortunate enough to work closely with Haven over the past year and have been impressed with the studio’s growth and progress. Today, as we celebrate the first candle of our official partnership, we are delighted to welcome them to PlayStation. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Haven Studios. Welcome to the PlayStation Studios family, Haven!

The acquisition of Haven is not only a financial relief for Jade Raymond and her teams, it is also the opportunity to work with other renowned and talented studios, such as Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule or even Insomniac Games which are mentioned and with which it will be able to collaborate on joint projects. Jade Raymond points out that the studio has made tremendous progress in just 12 months, thanks in part to a corporate culture based on kindness, flexibility and the courage to let creativity run wild. This is an opportunity for her to reveal that their game in development is “AAA multiplayer experience with an ever-changing world centered on freedom, passion and zest to keep players entertained for years”. Suffice to say that we can’t wait to see the result.
