Sons of the Forest is in Early Access on Steam. What about a console release on PS4, PS5 and Xbox? Could crossplay become an issue? MeinMMO collects the information and gives an outlook.
First things first: So far there have been no official statements from the developers about porting to the PS4, PS5 and Xbox consoles. So we can only speculate.
However, there are a few clues that we want to classify here for you. If there is any new information about console porting or crossplay, we will update the article accordingly.

Sons of the Forest: PS5 / PS4 / Xbox Series X
How did it go on Forest 1? The Forest 1 was in Early Access for 4 years, coming as a full game in early 2018 and for PS4 in late 2018. Sons of the Forest is only supposed to stay in Early Access for 6 to 8 months.
Is Sons of the Forest Coming to Consoles? So far there is no official information about this. But the probability is high.
Sons of the Forest runs in the Unity engine, just like Forest 1. Unity has powerful tools that are very useful when porting to other platforms.
Due to the great success of Sons of the Forest on Steam, a port to PlayStation and/or Xbox would not only be conceivable, but even probable. Rather for the PlayStation, because the developers have already gained experience on PS4.
When could Sons of the Forest come to consoles? We expect porting to other platforms at the earliest 6 months after the release of the finished version – mid-2024.

Will Sons of the Forest offer crossplay? Unlike the console release, that’s doubtful.
Even The Forest 1 had no crossplay and the feature is not necessarily common in the survival genre. While more and more titles are coming with crossplay available on multiple platforms, smaller games like Sons of the Forest rarely offer the feature.
