Although Sega has not revealed much information about the new racing game, some interesting details may have leaked online.
The new Sonic racing game announced by Sega at The Game Awards Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Although not many details are shared about it, some interesting information has been leaked to the internet. While fans are waiting for more information about the game, which was introduced with a short cinematic trailer in which Shadow jumps into a race car, the leak shared by Sonic Stadium on X/Twitter gives clues about the content of the game.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Will Take Place in Different Dimensions
According to metadata information on the Sega Asia website, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will have players “race across land, sea, air, space and time” and allow them to “drift between dimensions.” Although this information has not been officially confirmed, it is thought that there may be a connection between Sonic games and movies, considering the phrase “CrossWorlds” in the game’s name.
Leaked details indicate that the content of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds can build a bridge between Sonic games and movies. It will not be a surprise if the game includes locations such as Green Hills and Montana seen in the movies, or characters such as the movie version Sonic and Tom Wachowski as racers. However, we will have to wait for official announcements to see whether all this will happen.
Another piece of info for #SonicRacingCrossWorlds has been uncovered. The metadata from the SEGA Asia website says the following:

Another interesting detail in the metadata leak is about gameplay. Accordingly, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds may bring back the vehicle transformation mechanics in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which was released in 2012 and received positive reactions. In this game, racing vehicles could transform into boats and planes, but this feature was not included in Team Sonic Racing. The leak indicates that this mechanic may return.
There is no official statement yet regarding when Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be released. Even in the trailer, there is no information about the game’s release date or year. Considering Sonic x Shadow Generations is set to release in October, and given Sega’s tendency to release Sonic games in recent years, often around the holidays, the new game may have to wait until late 2025.
