Someone has put together Stefan Schwarz’s absolutely worst tackles – and we can barely look at it

Today, top football is not so much about physics and hard tackles. In the past, it was important with rock-hard midfielders who did just about everything to stop their opponent – by all means allowed. And that’s why Stefan Schwarz was the perfect player.

Hard, harder, Schwarz

A well-known expression in Swedish football is “harder, harder, Schwarz”, and it is impossible to describe him better. It could really hurt to meet the Swede on the pitch and if he had decided to stop someone, well, then it happened. And it was probably lucky that Schwarz played when he did.

It was not that he was a bad player in other ways, but it was the physics he lived on – and had he been doing today as Schwarz did then, then he would probably have been sent off in every other match.
