The Day Before was delayed another nine months due to the fact that producer Fntastic was delayed in acquiring the naming rights for the game.
The Day Before’s release date, which was previously announced as June 2022, has been delayed. As a reason, they said that they wanted to make the game with Unreal Engine 5, so it was postponed. With the statement made today, they reported that the game was postponed again shortly before its release.
Someone else got the naming rights to The Day Before
Fntastic clarified why the game was delayed with its statement today. Last night, the game’s Steam page was delisted in a move that developer Fntastic told fans was the result of a maintenance error. However, in an update earlier this morning, the developer actually issued a statement saying “Steam has blocked our game page at the request of a private person because of the name The Day Before.”
Fntastic says the trademark existed when it announced the game in January 2021, but after the announcement, a person who registered the trademark claimed it in the United States. The trademark appears to have been registered by someone from South Korea in November.
Fntastic says it only became aware of the issue on January 19, when it received a complaint from the trademark owner. As a result, it has decided to postpone the game from its planned release date in March to November 10.
