Soldiers from the 56th Field Artillery Regiment, based in Brantford, will be practicing their skills this weekend.

The regiment, in a news release, said the soldiers are taking part in winter indoctrination training from Jan. 13 to 15.

“No weapons or live ammunition will be used at any time.”

The public can expect to see soldiers conducting training in and around Brantford and Brant and Norfolk counties, according to the release

“During the training, it is requested that members of the public not obstruct or move near to where the soldiers are carrying out their tasks.”

The release said regiments members will be dressing for the cold, treating cold weather injury, lighting lanterns/stoves and setting up Arctic tents, among other things.

“The training works to expand the abilities of Army reserve soldiers operating in a cold weather environment. This training also gives junior leaders the ability to hone their leadership and instructing skills.”
