Sold out concert hall when Gävle receives Ukrainian dance company

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The work was to be performed a couple of weeks after Russia’s invasion last year. But it had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Since Christmas, the Ukrainian Classical Ballet has been on a tour that started in Germany. Now the turn has come to Sweden. And Gävle is the third stop out of fourteen.

– The situation is difficult in our country, says Ivan Zhuravlov, who is artistic director and founded the ballet company in 2016. We meet him before it is time to perform Swan Lake for the Gävle audience.

In the clip, he answers, among other things, the question of what it is like to perform a work by a Russian composer in these times. In addition, images from previous performances of the show are shown.
