Mats Årjes, former chairman of the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC), is cleared of suspicion of sexual harassment, writes DN. The Falu district court believes that it has not been proven that Årjes molested a woman on a train last summer, for which he was charged.
Årjes resigned in January as chairman of SOK, in connection with the suspicions becoming known.
“The last few days have been a trial and after careful consideration, and out of respect for SOK and my family, I have come to the conclusion that the best thing is for the organization to choose a new chairman,” he said in a statement to TT.
Mats Årjes writes in an SMS to DN that he does not want to comment on the acquittal.
