(Finance) – After the extra-ordinary year 2020, thanks to the peaks in demand linked to consumer purchases during lockdown periods, Sofidel she said she was satisfied with the results achieved also in 2021, the year in which the results returned to pre-pandemic crisis levels and confirmed the constant growth of the group active worldwide in the production of paper for hygienic and domestic use (Regina is its best-known brand). The net sales amounted to 2,095 million euros (2,173 million euros in 2020), while theEBITDA margin it settled at 10.42% (19.25% the year before).
2021, especially in the second part, saw the consolidation of sales in Europe and – thanks to the new installed production capacity, fully operational for the entire period – an important strengthening in United States. Among the prices of raw materials, in the first part of the year the cellulose pricewhile in the second the very strong increase in costs weighed on the cost structure energy prices (more in Europe, less in the United States).
“In a very difficult economic context in which the impressive rise in the prices of raw materials affected the economic trend, we can define the results linked to the development of the business as good – commented theCEO Luigi Lazzareschi – Sofidel sees strengthened sales, as well as, thanks to the continuation of sustainability strategies, its competitive conditions “.
On the energy front, Sofidel has launched a new phase of its procurement policy which sees the group committed in the purchase and self-production of electricity from renewable sources produced by newly built plants built thanks to long-term supply agreements.
