Sofia may be forced to travel 30 miles to BB

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

As TV4 news has reported before, the maternity hospital and the delivery at Lycksele hospital have been closed during Christmas, New Year and during the summer, and women have had to travel long distances to give birth.

Sofia Johansson, who lives in the mountain village of Ammarnäs, is expected to give birth in March and up until now she has breathed her last because the birth is not scheduled for the periods that BB is closed.

But just before Christmas, she received information that the acute staff shortage may mean that the region may be forced to shut down operations again at the end of January, and it is unclear for how long.

– I am just, first of all, sad and disappointed that it has gone this far, she says.

If BB is forced to remain closed even in January and beyond, Sofia will have to go to the coast, i.e. 30 miles away to give birth.
