Soester residential area protests against possible arrival of asylum seekers’ center: ‘140 asylum seekers here is far too many’

Soester residential area protests against possible arrival of asylum seekers

Posters and banners are hanging on balconies, in bus shelters and on fences against the arrival of an asylum seekers’ center at De Open Hof. Although after a tour through the Soester district of Smitsveen you might think that they are completely against the arrival of an asylum seeker center, that seems not to be so bad. “They simply have to be taken care of. That help is needed, everyone here knows that,” says Piet. He lives behind the possible asylum seekers’ center location where the COA would prefer to make room for 140 asylum seekers. “We want to accommodate people, but that is too many.”
