Municipal Interests Groen Soest (GGS), which profiles itself as a nature-loving party, agreed with pain in the heart to the council proposal. Group chairman Jan Paauw called it “the least bad proposal”, because it spares other locations in the open polder. The faction had little choice, because of agreements that were already laid down in the coalition agreement two years ago. The fact that Soest2002, VVD and PvdA agreed to his two motions seemed mainly to be a saving grace on the part of the coalition members.
