Söderhamn close to SM gold – turned towards Eslöv

Truls Möregårdh won both his singles according to the program, even though Anders Eriksson forced him to a tiebreaker.

Viktor Brodd also won both of his singles, but Daniel Kosiba came close to handing Brodd his second loss of the entire season. Win there and Eslöv had won the first final match with 4–2.

At a 5–4 deficit in the tiebreaker, Viktor Brodd showed why he is the second best player in the series and made sure to equalize at 3–3.

“In a final there is of course a little more tension, but I have great confidence and this is by far my best season,” said Viktor Brodd.

To separate the teams, a decisive double in the best of three sets awaited which team would gain an advantage before the return in Söderhamn.

For a long time it looked as if Truls Möregårdh paired with Alex Naumi would save the home crowd. They took the first set, narrowly lost the second, but took a 6–0 lead in the tiebreaker.

In the almost hopeless situation for Söderhamn, Viktor Brodd and Koji Uezu took seven straight points and decided on their second match point to 12–10.

— It would of course have been nice to get a victory with us. Right now it feels tough, tough and boring. I don’t usually complain, but I think we had a bit of a bad flow at the end, said Truls Möregårdh.

Now Söderhamn has two chances at home to salvage the club’s seventh SM gold of all time. At the same time, it will be a delicate task for Truls Möregårdh and Eslövs AI if they want to regain the throne in Swedish table tennis.
