The coronation of Charles III leads to the sale of many goodies, some of them wacky, and at prices that are not always affordable.

This is one of the characteristics of Britons that never recedes over time. Goodies around royalty abound in the shops and some of the locals, like many tourists, are fond of these souvenirs bearing the image of the new holder of the crown. So, what better opportunity for sellers than a coronation to support their stalls a little more with various and varied objects. With the formalization of the coronation of Charles III this Saturday, the products derived from the image of the king and queen consorts are heterogeneous to say the least. A whole bunch of accessories are offered for sale, some of which are particularly wacky.

Lots of goodies, but low budget

Above all, these various creations do not come out of the hat of simple salespeople smelling a good financial operation. An official store dedicated to coronation goodies is indeed online. There Royal Collection Shop, the official store of the royal family, offers for sale pins, crockery, socks or even a pill box (!), with the royal signs on it as well as the characteristic blue of the monarchy. However, you have to be ready to heat up the credit card. If the cheapest products are displayed around 4.50€, the dishes go up to 170€. The pill box is on sale for 140€.

But that’s not all. Some want to take advantage of the event and even go even further in the derivative products offered for sale. Thus, tea tins, biscuit tins, tote bags, tea towels and even chocolate bars with the effigy of Charles III can be purchased in souvenir shops. It remains to be seen whether customers will spend money to keep a souvenir of this historic day. The average ticket should show around twenty euros at the checkout.
