Society collapses in the trailer for horror spectacle Bird Box

Post-apocalyptic horror thriller Bird Box went on to become a huge hit for Netflix in 2018, even unleashing a number of dangerous challenges along the way. Now the streaming service is continuing in the trailer Bird Box Barcelona before.

Horror thriller Bird Box 2 is set to repeat Netflix’s success

In the first Bird Box film, a mysterious suicidal craze took hold. Only those who relinquished their own eyesight, e.g. with a blindfold, could survive during this terrible pandemic. Malorie (Sandra Bullock) then went with her children in search of a refuge in nature. The sequel/spin-off Bird Box Barcelona is now jumping across the Atlantic to explore how Europeans in Spain are dealing with such a pandemic:

At the center of David Pastor’s Netflix sequel, Bird Box 2, is father Sebastian (Mario Casas) who, with his young daughter Anna, tries to make ends meet on the streets of Barcelona during the outbreak of the epidemic. They form an alliance with other survivors, but as they search for a safe haven, they realize that the unseen creatures that are causing the suicide wave aren’t the only threat.

Susanne Bier’s Bird Box was based on the novel of the same name* by Josh Malerman. In fact, a year after the Netflix success, this resulted in a book sequel called Malorie. The new trailer does not reveal much, apart from panic in the beautiful ambience of Barcelona: It does, however, look as if the new Netflix film is not based on the second novel *, but will function independently.

When does Bird Box 2 start on Netflix?

Bird Box Barcelona has a worldwide Netflix launch on July 14, 2023. Sandra Bullock is unlikely to return in the Spanish sequel.
