Social services have difficulty reaching younger children and the efforts are unfair depending on the children’s background, shows a study from Sweden’s Municipalities and Regions (SKR) and Karlstad University.
The study also shows that older children, and children who have previously been investigated or received help, to a greater extent receive more interventions than younger children and children who are being investigated for the first time.
A new social services law that will enter into force in July 2025 is supposed to be able to improve the situation.
