Örebro has played in the women’s league since 2003, apart from a season in the Elitettan in 2018. Now the team has to start again in Sweden’s second division after losing 0–4 against Häcken.
Japanese defender Hikaru Kitagawa came to Häcken this summer and scored 1–0 in the fourth minute, which was also her first goal for the club.
With a quarter played, Alice Bergström made it 2-0 after a nice cross from Paulina Nyström.
The fence completely dominated the match.
In the second half, the first 3-0 came from Canadian Clarissa Larisy after a pattern attack that Anna Anvegård started with an opening deep ball.
And then Tabby Tindell made it 4-0 for Häcken after a goalie board from Örebro’s Clara Ekstrand.
In the final stages of the match, 38-year-old goalkeeper Loes Geurts was replaced and celebrated by his teammates in Häcken and the audience at Bravida arena. The Dutch recently announced that she ends his career after the season.
– They have fought for the club for four years now, despite little resources and little organization, we have hung on for three years in a row. There was a very large rotation in the squad this year and has the youngest squad in the Allsvenskan. We are not leaving today. There are three overtime goals in the first four rounds, says Örebro’s coach Rickard Johansson in Viaplay’s broadcast.
