The Swedish football season has started. On Saturday, Gif Sundsvall played for the first time against Östersund in the super league.
For a long time it looked like it would be goalless between the teams – but in extra time Sundsvall struck.
After carelessness in Östersund, Pontus Engblom was able to grab the ball and roll in the match-deciding 1-0 goal in front of a wildly cheering home crowd.
– It was a classic premiere match, not so many goal chances. It is an individual mistake that decides. It was just a matter of rolling it in, of course it was an invitation, says Engblom to Discovery+.
Last season, Sundsvall finished in tenth place, while Östersund finished fifth.
