Earlier this week, the American club San Diego Wave announced that Sofia Jakobsson is leaving the club.
And there have been rumors of a move to the London City Lionesses, where she will join Kosovare Asllani and Julia Roddar.
Now the transition has been made public. The 34-year-old has signed a two-year contract.
– I talked to many clubs but could immediately see that this is a super interesting project and a fantastic opportunity to do something special together as a group. This is a cool challenge, she says in a press release.
The Swedish national team player believes that Kosovare Aslanni was a part of her finally chalking it up to the high-stakes team.
– She told me about the plans and what Michele Kang wants to achieve with this team, and women’s soccer in general is fantastic.
Head coach Jocelyn Precheur sees that Jakobsson can contribute with qualities that no other player in the squad possesses.
– She has qualities we didn’t have before. She likes to attack and dribble a lot. He is a talented player who is something we really needed to get into our team.
