So that I don’t fight in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 like a leek, I have been preparing for weeks for weeks

On February 4, 2025, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Time to recall the events from Part 1 -At least that’s how Meinmmo editor Alexander Schürlein thought. But after a short time in the game he realized that a repetition also makes sense for another reason.

It is February 13, 2018. A new role -playing game sees the light of day, which had somehow tied me up with its first trailer. As a big fan of medieval settings and profound role-playing games, I just had to have Kingdom Come Deliverance.

No sooner said than done, the adventure around Heinrich moved in on my PlayStation 4. I was enchanted immediately. The whole atmosphere hit me in her spell and let me sink into her. You have to say that I am someone who is incredibly happy to go to medieval markets and has often participated in those in the past.

With all of his presentation, Kingdom Come Deliverance put fully into this notch. So it had sneaked into my heart within a few minutes. At the time, however, this was a little clouded when it came to the first fights. There I got one missed and had the feeling that I couldn’t even do anything about it.

In my view, the combat system turned out to be a great role -playing game even after a long play than Achilles verses. So that I can get used to the fiddling fights again for the second part, I started a run again a few weeks ago. That I am mentally prepared for the new frustrations.

Who writes here? Meinmmo editor Alexander is a medieval and role-playing fan with heart and soul. In his life he easily comes to several 1000 hours in various role-playing games and prescribes a large part of his free time the tabletop role-playing game dungeons & dragons.

From blacksmiths to the knight

What is the terrible about the combat system? With a more realistic and authentic approach as possible, you start here as what Heinrich is: a young man who works as a journeyman in his father’s smithy. So he has combat experience more from tavern fights, which also makes sense.

Only because he smiths and know how to lead them does not mean that he also has a chance in a realistic struggle. So you have to actively practice so that Heinrich can do something against his tormentors. And a lot. And long.

The exercise is not only important for Heinrich’s values, but definitely also for the player itself. Because the combat system already differs from what is otherwise used to action role-playing games. Attacks come from different directions that also have to be parried and countered in them.

There are also some maneuvers in which you can pack or push the opponent. The tutorial briefly explains how it all works. However, I had the feeling that it wasn’t “out there” to the world.

Fights in Kingdom Come Deliverance often have to be well planned and carefully addressed. The generally somewhat fiddly control is not exactly helpful and requires some practice. In addition to input errors that lead to Heinrich not doing what you have pressed, opponent groups can suddenly make life hell.

Because by playing the game in terms of egopher, you hardly get what the opponents do next to or behind you, and can be little into it. In addition, the camera and control make it difficult to target certain opponents and to switch off in a targeted manner.

This can quickly lead to the fact that you die quickly despite good planning and careful procedure. And depending on when it was recently saved, this can lead to a lot of game progress. This was sometimes very frustrated and only got a little better when I had invested in the game for many hours.

Why is there additional exercise as preparation for part 2? Precisely because the combat system is different than many others in usual role -playing games, it cannot hurt to refresh the exercise again. I have found for myself that after such a long break you quickly feel the same way as Heinrich at the beginning of the game – like an absolute leek.

It takes time to arrange yourself with the combat system and warm up with the control. You have to develop individual systems that fit your own style of play to iron out the weaknesses of the combat system. Since Heinrich has already developed within the story in part 2, it doesn’t feel so good for me to start the next adventure with this knowledge.

That’s why I use the time until the release so that I can hopefully continue my journey to Heinrich’s side with far less frustration.

Why is Kingdom Come Deliverance so good? Fights are important in Kingdom Come Deliverance, but only make up a small part of the whole. I had the fun of my life as I was looking for plants for alchemy, hunted in the forests or measure myself at tournaments with other knights.

For me, the game is one of the best medieval simulations and, despite its particular technical weaknesses, is a really great role -playing game. And I’m very excited to see how Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will ultimately beat.

In any case, the problem with the lost season and the storage points will probably be less an issue. Because in the new part there should be an improvement that counteracts this criticism: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: A small improvement makes the RPG significantly less frustrating than its predecessor
