When a person in Sweden dies, a declaration of death at the Swedish Tax Agency is decided. Only when the authority has received a death certificate from a doctor or hospital can the Swedish Tax Agency be explained by the person.
This is usually done automatically without the dead person’s relatives having to do anything, except in cases where the deceased was abroad at their death.
When the Swedish Tax Agency declared a person dead, information is sent to authorities, private companies, banks and insurance companies.
