Fewer people died on the roads during this year’s summer months compared to previous years. During June–August, 66 people died on Swedish roads, to be compared with an average of 73 people in the same period 2018–2022, figures from the Swedish Transport Agency show.

June was the most accident-prone summer month, when 27 people died in traffic. In July the number landed at 13 people, and in August 26 people.

Of the 66 fatalities during the summer, 30 were unprotected road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists. It is also somewhat lower than the average in previous years. Between 2018–2022, the average was 37 unprotected road users who died during June–August.
