2,661 covid vaccinated people have so far reported suspected vaccine injuries, 155 have had their reports approved by the Swedish Pharmaceutical Insurance.
– It is a very widespread pattern, there are no signs of what we call serial damage, says CEO Robert Ström.
The requirement for receiving compensation from the pharmaceutical insurance is that you have had problems for more than 30 days after vaccination against covid-19 and that the injuries are judged with a high probability to be due to the vaccine.
At the end of January, the Swedish Pharmaceutical Insurance had investigated 928 reports, most of which concerned transient ailments such as fever and headache.
The fact that this figure has now risen to 2,157 should not be interpreted as meaning that the number of notifications has increased in the last six months.
– On the contrary, there are fewer now. It is about us investigating those who have arrived earlier, says Robert Ström.
There is no common thread to distinguish among the reports, according to Ström it is “different from case to case and from individual to individual”.
– In the beginning, there were many simple cases, pain and fever and the like, which could be deflected quite quickly, says Robert Ström and adds that the processing time is about three months.
Of the total of 2,661 cases received since the start of vaccination in the country, 155 have had their cases approved. 2,002 have been rejected and 504 are still under investigation.
The difference between the pharmaceutical insurance and the Medical Products Agency is that the agency investigates side effects, while the pharmaceutical insurance works with insurance claims.
If the pharmaceutical insurance has declined reimbursement, it is possible to appeal the matter to the Pharmaceutical Injuries Board.
