Snus users run the risk of dying prematurely

Snus users run an increased risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, according to a new thesis at Umeå University. Socioeconomic background could not explain the increased mortality.

Snuff has become increasingly popular, and today approximately 23 percent of Swedish men and six percent of Swedish women snuff daily. However, the effects of snus on our health have been partially unknown to the scientific world, but according to the comprehensive study, which is the largest of its kind, snus users ran a 28 percent higher risk than non-snus users of dying prematurely.
