Snowstorm in the Italian Alps terrified skiers

The Easter celebration became a nightmare for several tourists in the Italian Cervinia. Winds of over 70 kilometers per hour were particularly noticeable to people in the lifts – and according to British Metro, the wind strength exceeded the tolerance of the lifts.

“Was in shock”

Dramatic footage has been circulated and several people testify to the horror. Metro has spoken to Burt who was in the lift with his friend Barnaby – who had to hold the protective visor down spasmodically.

– The only reason I’m alive is that I was there with Barnaby, who weighs 100 kg and was able to hold it down, she says.

Criticism is now being directed at the ski resort which, despite the weather, chose to stay open.

– We were traumatized. I was in shock. And they believe that our lives were not in danger. It’s insane, says one person.

Criticism of the facility

The person is also critical of the fact that there was no communication or someone who checked how the people on the slopes were doing.

Several people say that they considered throwing themselves from the lift despite the high altitude.

– We thought we were going to die and discussed whether it was better to have broken legs or a broken pelvis and be alive.

A mother who sat in the lift with her nine-year-old daughter says that she feared for both her own and her daughter’s life – and adds that she will “never ski in Italy again”.

A spokesperson for the ski resort told MailOnline that officials could not be contacted due to the Easter holiday.
