The culminating match of the English Premier League weekend between league leaders Liverpool and Manchester United was threatened when a blanket of snow accumulated overnight in Liverpool and the surrounding area.

However, the Premier League announced that the match will be played as planned at Liverpool’s Anfield stadium today. The match starts at 18:30 Finnish time.

According to the BBC, the weather conditions closed the airports for a while in both Manchester and Liverpool this morning. Forecasts still promise sleet and rain in the area today.

– We met twice today to assess the weather and traffic situation for today’s match at Anfield. We thank everyone who has been involved in making the match possible. If you are traveling to the match, be especially careful, Liverpool announced on their website.
