Ireland and the UK are dealing with severe weather conditions. In Ireland, approximately 60 thousand homes, farms and businesses were affected by a power outage, according to a statement from ESB Networks.
RED ALARM
Outages caused by strong winds were especially concentrated in the west and northwest of the country. Additionally, a red alert was issued in two regions due to ‘Storm Bert’.
The storm caused major disruption in Ireland and the UK, with heavy snowfall, heavy rain and strong winds.
DISRUPTION IN AIR AND ROAD
The Met Office stated that the storm was “very dangerous” and would be particularly effective in areas such as Scotland, north-east England and Wales.
Due to the storm, up to 40 cm of snow is expected to fall and there are cancellations in road and airline flights. Met Office spokesman Oli Claydon said complex and troubling weather conditions would continue throughout the weekend.
