Snow chaos continues – several accidents last night

Winter’s comeback in southern Sweden has brought canceled trains and buses, and major problems after accidents on the roads. The snowy weather has moved northeast and arrived in the Stockholm area late on Tuesday afternoon. SMHI has issued an orange warning in several places.

The snowfall over the Stockholm area intensifies during the night towards Wednesday and during the morning hours. It is estimated that at least one decimeter of snow will fall, in some places there may be more.

There has also been a lot of snow in the western parts of the country. During Tuesday, a series of accidents occurred in connection with the heavy snowfall. Among other things, two trucks and a car were involved in an accident on the E 20 near Mariestad at around 2 p.m. One person had to be dug out after being buried under grain from one of the trucks.

Calls for homework


At around 9 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on national highway 44 outside Trollhättan. A truck drove through the median barrier and collided with oncoming traffic. One person was taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries. According to an alarm and line operator, the road conditions at the scene of the accident were bad, writes Göteborgs-Posten. There have also been a number of traffic accidents in Södermanland and Östergötland, among others.

The Swedish Transport Administration invites everyone who can work from home during the snowy weather.
