SNCF strike: notices filed every weekend of the Christmas holidays

SNCF strike notices filed every weekend of the Christmas holidays

SNCF STRIKE. After the recent mobilizations, new strikes could hit the TGV, Intercités, TER and Transilien network during the three weekends of the Christmas school holidays.

[Mis à jour le 9 décembre 2022 à 12h00] The unions of Unsa railway, Sud-Rail, CFDT-Cheminots as well as the collective of controllers are preparing for new days of strike around Christmas and New Year if they fail to win. After having been received this Thursday, December 8 by the management of the SNCF, they have one week left to take a position on these exchanges. The issue of the negotiations is the substantial increase in salaries for the year 2023 and the reassessment of the status of controllers.

After the captains, the signalmen filed a strike notice, for the period from Thursday December 15 to Monday December 19, 2022, which falls on the first weekend of the Christmas school holidays. They suffer from too low a salary and chronic understaffing. They will also be received by management this Friday.

Four unions, Unsa, SUD-Rail, CFDT and FO locally, have filed strike notices for weekends from Friday December 23 to Monday December 26, 2022 and Friday, December 30, 2022 to Monday, January 2, 2023, in order to put pressure in the context of negotiations with the SNCF. Saturday, December 3, the Minister of Transport Clément Beaune nevertheless wanted to put this scenario of paralysis of transport for the end of year celebrations into perspective. “I can’t bring myself to have things written down,” he said, calling for “collective responsibility”, according to comments reported by BFM TV. “The week is decisive”, announced the national secretary at the CFDT-railway workers Sabine Le Toquin. “We will know if Christmas is in danger or not. The ball is in the company’s court”.
