SNCF Connect has just integrated a brand new option into its service offering. From now on, you will be able to activate an alert to be notified when another user cancels their reservation in a full train. Practical !
As the end-of-year holidays approach, many French people want to travel to spend time with family. To do this, there are several solutions: the plane – which is expensive and not very environmentally friendly –, the car or even the train. Unfortunately, trying to find the right ticket, at a reasonable price and at a convenient time slot can turn into a real nightmare. In fact, late customers have a lot of trouble reserving their train tickets. Result ? They open the dedicated application, SNCF Connect, and constantly refresh the page in search of a cancellation from another user. An action that can be boring and off-putting. To meet this need, the SNCF Connect application has just added a brand new function. Since Thursday November 30, 2023, travelers can in fact be notified when a seat becomes available on a train that was shown to be full.
Free space SNCF Connect: an alert only available on the app
Now you can receive an alert when another user has canceled their reservation. To do this, simply open the iOS or Android mobile application – since the option is not available on the website – and go to the route in question. If this trip is full, a clickable button displaying Be notified if a ticket is available appears just below the departure and arrival times.
To manage the alert list, go to the section Account, located at the bottom right of the application. Then click on the section Full train alerts. It is then possible to delete the alerts or know your position on the waiting list.
When you are in first position on this same list, you will receive an alert in the form of a notification. But beware ! You will need to be responsive to reserve your place. “You have a purchase window of a limited duration, between 10 minutes and 2 hours depending on the proximity of the departure date”, indicates the application.
SNCF Connect: an application on the right track?
Since it was launched in January 2022, the SNCF Connect application has been singled out by many users. The reason ? The latter complained of an unergonomic interface and many missing options. The company then announced that it was working to develop new functions in order to appeal to the most rebellious. Thanks to its multiple additions, SNCF Connect was recently named “Customer Service of the Year 2024” in the “Reservation Platform” category. A price which was widely contested by the magazine 60 Million consumers, and which made many users jump. The media was particularly right to point out that the application had been the victim of significant technical problems when tickets were put on sale for the end of the year. So, yes, the SNCF Connect application seems to be going in the right direction, but users are still waiting for further improvements.
