The father of the gif left us as a result of Covid-19, at the age of 74. Stephen Wilhite is the inventor of the format allowing to broadcast compressed images without losing quality. It was in 1989 that the GIF was born. At a time when broadcasting videos online is almost impossible, this invention revolutionizes the use of the Internet and quickly becomes popular. On the other hand, it was only years later that its creator lifted the veil on its pronunciation. Indeed, the GIF is not called “guif” but “jif”. Did you know ? Steve Whitite’s favorite gif was the “dancing baby”.

Scewo, the revolutionary electric wheelchair
The Swiss start-up Scewo has designed an electric wheelchair capable of offering more autonomy to its user. The Scewo Bro is equipped with caterpillars allowing it to climb stairs and thus compensate for the lack of ramps or access for people with reduced mobility. It is also possible to adjust its height to reach objects that would be out of reach. The idea is therefore to adapt wheelchairs, instead of adapting the city and its infrastructures. The Scewo Bro is said to have a range of 35 km and reach a maximum speed of 10 km/h. Both all-terrain and high-tech, this chair has no front wheels and is self-balancing. Equipped with sensors, it manages to detect the last steps of a staircase. For now, the Scewo Bro is not marketed in France.
