The 36-year-old man has previously lived in Eskilstuna, but now lives in Spain. In March 2021, Swedish police gained access to information secured from the encrypted communication tool Sky ECC by, among others, French police in collaboration with Europol.
Organized the smuggling
The police were then able to link the username “Grizzly” – who in August and September 2020 organized smuggling of over 100 kilos of hashish and cannabis from Spain to Sweden – to the 36-year-old.
The 36-year-old himself has admitted that he was the group’s leader and the one who had contact with the seller and the one who arranged the transport to Sweden. He has also admitted that he was the spider in the web regarding the payment to the seller.
Exempted from certain charges
For this he is convicted of aggravated drug smuggling and aggravated drug offense. He is also convicted of a case of aggravated drug offense in March 2021 and of a case of assault. However, he was acquitted of two counts of a serious drug offense for which he was charged.
The district court, which sentences the 36-year-old to prison for seven years and six months, states that the man had a leading role in an organized criminal activity and that the penalty value should therefore be high.
