The Syrian National Army liberated Manbij, which was under the occupation of the US-backed terrorist organization PKK/YPG, and cleared the largest terrorist nest west of the Euphrates River.
CONTROL PASSED TO SMO
Within the scope of the operation, SNA cleared the Urayme town in the west of Manbij and the Um Dadat village in the north from terrorism and entered the district from the north and west lines, and took control of the district. Thus, military opponents saved the largest terrorist nest west of the Euphrates River.
MINE SUSPICION
Manbij was occupied by the US-backed terrorist organization and was the largest terrorist hotbed west of the Euphrates River. Search and screening activities are carried out against mines and traps in the district.
On the first day of the operation launched on December 1, Tel Rifat district center was liberated from the terrorist organization PKK/YPG.
WHY IS MANBIJ IMPORTANT?
Despite the promises of the USA and Russia, the district is under the occupation of the organization. PKK/YPG captured the Manbij district as a result of an attack launched with the support of the USA between May and August 2016. The USA promised Turkey that PKK/YPG members would leave the district after it was cleared of the terrorist organization DAESH, but did not fulfill this.
Russia also committed to removing the terrorist organization from Manbij, with the agreement it reached with Turkey during Operation Peace Spring in October 2019, and announced that the terrorists had left, but on the other hand, the organization did not leave.
THE DREAM OF THE TERRORIST CORRIDOR HAS FALLED
The Manbij region was of central importance in PKK/YPG’s plan to open a terror corridor starting from the Syria-Iraq border and reaching the Mediterranean in western Syria. Türkiye dealt a blow to the preparations for establishing a direct connection between Afrin-Tel Rifat and Manbij with the Euphrates Shield Operation in August 2016.
