The sale of holiday smile cookies at 11 Sarnia-area Tim Hortons locations in November raised $19,606 for school nutrition programs in Lambton County.

The company’s smile cookie fundraising campaign, traditionally held in May, was repeated this year during the holidays for the first time with proceeds going to local charities, as well as Tim Hortons Foundation camps.

Operators of 11 local Tim Hortons locations selected the Ontario student nutrition program in Lambton to receive half of the proceeds from sale of the cookies.
“One hundred percent of the $19,606 donated to OSNP Lambton will be allocated directly to all 46 student nutrition programs in Lambton County, which will provide nourishing food for 9,600 students,” Leslie Palimaka, VON Ontario student nutrition program community development coordinator, said in a statement.statement.
The programs provide meals and snacks in elementary and secondary schools across Sarnia and the rest of Lambton County.
