Minimum wage. The minimum wage is increased by 2% from November 1, 2024. Here is what its new level will be.
The announcement was unexpected. During his general policy speech, Michel Barnier announced that the inter-professional growth minimum wage would increase by 2% on November 1, 2024. A purely political decision and completely uncorrelated from the usual method of calculation. Indeed, given the slowdown in inflation, INSEE had indicated that the minimum wage would not be automatically increased on November 1st. The head of government decided otherwise. Thus, within a few days, 2.5 million employees will receive a slightly higher salary.
The increase in the minimum wage from November 1, 2024 has been made official. The amount of the minimum wage will increase by 2%. An increase which will allow workers paid the SMIC to see their salary increase by 27.98€ net per month. The monthly net salary will therefore now be €1426.68 and the gross salary €1802.26.
The amount of the monthly net minimum wage is set at 1,426.68 euros on November 1, 2024, compared to 1,398.70 euros at the beginning of January, the date of the last revaluation. As a reminder, here is the evolution of the amount of the net monthly minimum wage in recent years:

The amount of the net hourly minimum wage is extremely variable. Keep in mind that its amount can completely vary from one pay slip to another, due to the amount of social security contributions deducted from the gross hourly minimum wage. Currently, the amount of Net hourly minimum wage is approximately 9.42 euros.
The amount of the gross hourly minimum wage in force amounts to 11.84 euros. As a reminder, the amount of the gross hourly minimum wage, in recent years, was set at:

The hourly rate of the SMIC corresponds to the legal minimum hourly wage that the employee must receive. Reductions are, however, applicable in certain cases (apprentices and employees under 18). This is the amount paid for one hour of work. The monthly minimum wage is based on 35 hours per week.
The amount of the annual minimum wage is obtained by multiplying the amount of the monthly minimum wage (above) by the number of months of the year, i.e. 12. Please note, if you benefit from a 13th month paid to your employer, the latter is not part of the calculation of the annual minimum wage. Referring to the amount of the minimum wage currently in force, the net annual minimum wage amounts to 17,119.91 euros. For its part, the gross annual minimum wage climbs to 21,627 euros.
